This session will review the major federal tax developments of September 2022, including the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by President Biden. However, the most significant development of the month came in Notice 2022-36 and News Release 2022-155 where the IRS announced that it would not impose a late filing penalty on most 2019 and 2020 income tax returns if filed by September 30, 2022. This was a big month for new developments.
